Kokichi snickered and booped his nose, “ Goooood morning, sleepyhead! Did you have a good sleep? Well, of course you did, you lazy ass. Those wide eyes traced over his face with warmth and affection before they were tinged with mischief when he noticed Shuichi was awake.
He must’ve closed his eyes and dozed off for a moment because the next thing he saw when he opened them was bright violet eyes. Regardless, he was still mad tired from the dispute with his team as he trudged in his living room and landed on the couch with a soft thump, all the while groaning into a pillow as he felt his entire body melt like butter on the couch. Which is why Shuichi was determined to prove this man’s innocence even if he had to fight tooth and nail against his team.Īfter all, he was the Ultimate Detective they couldn’t do shit to him unless they wanted to get fired by their agency. If it was his own spouse that died in cold blood, he would’ve done more than cry himself hoarse and curse the world for taking his lover. It was clear that they were still in love with each other despite the fallout and Shuichi couldn’t help but sympathise with the sobbing man. Shuichi had comforted the man as he broke down in that interrogation room. The man’s status as a soldier may make him a suspect but he couldn’t have visited his kids, went back and killed his ex-wife before going straight to the airport within that timeframe.īesides, Shuichi himself had interrogated this man and his suspicions were clear this man knew nothing about the murder and how she died- the shock and grief in his voice were proof enough that he didn’t kill his ex-wife. In reality, the man had a solid alibi: he was visiting their kids at a local university several miles away from the crime scene before being deployed to another country. The team was so sure the man was guilty of murdering his ex-wife in cold blood. Regardless, Shuichi’s problem lay with the team he was working with. If only they had noticed the clues left behind on the crime scene. It wasn’t that the case was difficult - the opposite really. While he mainly solved missing person cases, Shuichi had recently been recruited by his agency to help with a homicide investigation. Work was getting difficult, extremely so. His back hurt in the worst way possible, like a string being strung so tightly that it was tethering at the edge of snapping. He toed off his shoes and took off his coat, wincing as he rolled his tense shoulders and stretched. The minute he stepped foot inside his house, Shuichi felt nothing more than exhaustion.
